Finally, my updates and Step 6 of the Budgeting for Beauty Products plan. I have been too busy enjoying my new products to update the blog.
There was a small sneak peak with the previous post on all the samples I scored during my stroll through the malls. In between all the satchets and cards were three little boxes that make me very happy. I always know that I’m in love with a product when I immediately place it in the make-up bag that goes in my handbag.
As you may have also noticed in that sneak peak, I only purchased three items on my “shopping list”. I’m very impressed with my self-restrained. Here is a brief recap of the items that I placed on my “want” list:
1. Estee Lauder DoubleWear Concealer in Deep ($22)
2. Estee Lauder “Violet Underground” Pure Color Eyeshadow Palette ($48)
3. Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in
Insouciance, Genie, Impertinence & Troublant ($32)
4. Yves Saint Laurent Touch Eclat Foundation SPF 19 ($55)
5. Neocutis Journee ($120 – recommended by the dermatologist as for those of us starting to notice wrinkles but not quite at the needle stage).
The italicized products are what came home with me.

Oh Estee Lauder, I literally stopped in my tracks when I saw the Violet Underground palette, I just knew I had to have it. A-Muh-Zing! I’m having so much fun playing with all the possible colour combinations. So beautiful… Pictures do not do it justice. The Concealer is also in constant rotation – the colour-match is excellent and I love how the product spreads out evenly and does not crease. Between it and my beloved YSL Touche Elcat #6 I look well-rested on my make-up days.

On to Chanel, even though I knew I didn’t necessarily want to purchase all four glosses at one time, I definitely wanted to try them all. Miss Judy – my lunatic and absolutely wonderful SA – kept insisting on Impertinence, and of course I ignored her. But she was absolutely right. This glosss is THICK, both Genie and Insouciance looked like I had placed shiny pale coloured glass on my lips. It was unattractive. Troublant was passable, but once I tried Impertinence I was totally sold! So yummy, so long-lasting, so moisturizing. Worth every penny. I really want to say that this is the only type of lipgloss I will ever purchase… but sigh. That so would not be true. The other 3 glosses have been permanently crossed off the list.
I received a sample size of the YSL, but alas the colour is not quite right. I have yet to return to the lovely SAs at Neimans who colour matched me to B80. But I did manage to pop by SAKS to see if they had Beige D’or 70 (which looks like a possible match), but alas that store had not received the Beige D’Or 70. I hate it when stores do not order all the available shades of a foundation. SERIOUSLY.
Amazon has a small size of the Neocutis Journee for roughly $45. I haven’t purchased it yet, but it’s next on the list. I was happy to see this small size as it will allow me to try this product for less. At that price-point I am seriously expecting miracles:)
