Recent Beauty Shopping!

Let me be clear, the following items were purchased over a period  of time. Some have seen usage, and others will be ripped open only when I finish other similar items in my stash.  I’m TRYING to follow some sort of one-in-one-out rule, mainly with regards to skincare.  Not so much with make-up.  But I digress – let’s go back to the shopping.

Here’s a quick list of my recent beauty pick-ups!

Diorskin Nude Teint Eclat Effect Peau Nue – Amber 063.  My new favourite foundation.  Well, one of them.  The colour match is spot-on for me, and I notice no oxidation.  One of the biggest pros is that it does not make me look ashy at all.  It is very weightless, I feel like I am not wearing foundation when I have this on.  Very light and easily blendable.  I prefer a light coverage but I do believe that it is buildable up to medium coverage.  Highly recommended.

I wasn’t too sure if I should include the following sample:  the Dior Capture Totale Eye Treatment. I have only used it once.  The ingredient is a little scary for me, the second ingredient is butylene glycol which usually raises all my shackles.  The likelihood of repurchasing dropped 50% based simply on that one ingredient.   I it;s totally controversial and a no-no in my book.  This will probably go into my “give-away” pile.

Chanel Gardenia Perfume – I used to have this perfume and completely finished it.  I totally loved it.  However, post-baby, my sense of smell is a little different.  I won’t even try to explain the scent, I am no good at that, except to say that it is extremely floral and powdery.  I’ll rip it open when I finish my Gucci Floral – so close!

Reviva Labs Glycolic Acid Facial Toner – I LOVE THIS!  Seriously, I could write a whole thesis about this toner.  It is paraben free and the ingredient list only has 12, count them, 12 ingredients.  It removes any remaining make-up on my face and leaves my face so clear and prepped for my serums, lotions and potions.  I think it is also keeping my hormonal breakouts at a minimum, but I think it is too early to officially make that call.  One little note though, mixing this with acne medications made my skin TOO dry.  I’ll have to watch how this performs in the winter when my skin tends to become very dry and tight.

Sonia Kashuk Eye Make-up Remover – I have only used this once since I bought it.  I am afraid that if I dig into it and like it, then I will not finish my current eye make-up remover.  All I can say though, is that so far, I’m finding it comparable to its “double-the-price” counterpart that I am currently using and will probably not repurchase.  I like how it does not leave too much of a greasy feeling afterwards.

MAC Haute & Naugty Lash – definitely holy grail material.  I saw this on a friend a few months ago and absolutely fell in love.  This is my second tube and there will be MORE.  I know that there is a new version of this out there, but I feel no need to try it.  Perfection.  Thank you MAC.

Tarte Clean Slate 360 Creaseless Eye Primer – so far so good with this one. I purchased this during the Ulta 21 days of Beauty for $10 instead of the usual $19.  To be honest, my only point of comparison is the NYX primer but I have noticed that my eye make-up looks fabulous at 4pm as it did when I slathered this on in the morning. But I had no formal complaint against the NYX – if cost is a consideration then NYX will do just fine.

What about you?  Bought anything new and exciting lately?  Are you looking forward to the holiday collections?  What is on your wishlist?

Stay blessed.
