Recent Beauty Purchases

Ever since I stopped all frivolous shopping for Lent, I’ve been at somewhat of a loss for what to post.  Totally sad commentary on the state of my life.  This is just going to be a brief look at my panicked beauty shopping before the ban.  I’ve had a chance to try most of the items, and couple have already moved on to a better home.  BTW, every item on this post was purchased with my own money.

Make-up
MAC Archie Girls’ Collection Lipstick in OhOhOh
Even though I loved the swatches of this, I did not like it on me.  It is nude and dead-fish looking on me so much so that I gave it away after only two weeks.  I found it moisturizing, but really disliked the colour.  I’m more of a red lipstick and/or extra shiny lip gal.

MAC Fix+
I have to admit that I am not too sure how to use this product.  But when I do use it (after make-up), I like the cool feel of this on my skin. I bought the travel size to try it out, it’s a possible repurchase.

Philosophy Hope Tinted Moisturizer in Deep
This was a gift from a friend who said this was too light for her.  It is a tad too red and too light for me, but mixing it with regular moisturizer made it a closer match.  I like the “Hope in…” series, wish they would come out with a few more shades.

Laura Mercier Lip Glace
Now this is a keeper.  It has presence on my lips and shows up to play.  I bought this after some young man spent a good 20mins giving me a make-over at the counter. I’ve worked retail, the least I could do was buy one product.  And I’m glad I did.  I’m looking forward to trying more Laura Mercier products in the future.

Skincare
Almay Make-up Remover Wipes
I like the little eye-pad make up removers so thought to give these a try.  They were pretty decent and I will consider repurchasing.

Yes to Grapefruit wipes
Yowzer – these are touted as exfoliating, and boy do they sting:(  I’m a little sensitive to vitamin C products and I can feel it in the citrus ingredients in this.  And there’s hell to pay if I need to use more than one, like on days I wear foundation.  I’m interested in trying other products in the Yes to Grapefruit range, but I’ll be saying NO to these.

Juice Beauty Sample kit
I’m in the market for a new, natural cleanser, and was going to pick up just the cleanser, but noticed that this sampler kit was cost less. I thought it would be a good way to try the range without making a formal commitment to one product.  I’m kinda glad I did, I’ve only tried a few of the products so far and I’m not 100% convinced.  Except for the toner spray – I will definitely purchase that once the ban is over. I’ll have a more detailed review of these products when I’ve tried all of them.

I also bought some Revlon lip products, I think a lip stain and a suede lipstick.  I immediately threw the lip stain in my makeup bag that I keep in my purse.  I’ve just had a really hard time photographing them.

How about you, what have you picked up lately?  Have you shopped the new summer collections yet?

Stay blessed and thanks for visiting.

  1. As always; very informative Review. I was wondering Neo, if you have ever reviewed any “Spot remover” product? I’ll like to get some information on that..:)
I have acne scars on my face and tried MaryKay products and Bio Oil. I can’t say they didn’t work but not quite…:)

    1. Hi, I haven’t really tried any spot removers. I do have a few acne scars on my face but I call them freckles and have made peace with them. Sometimes I put on concealer to try to cover them but not much more.

For scars on other parts of my body, I always use 100% shea butter soon after the scar forms. Sometimes I mix it with coconut oil. I used that concoction throughout my pregnancy and have zero stretch marks. HTH! I’ve heard lots of good things about the bio-oil!

  2. I just realized I’ll have to take time out to browse through your blog archives because of your awesome reviews…

So, do not be surprised to see me here on your blog every now and then…:)
