I’ve been so unlucky as to crack some of my make-up recently. But, thanks to the wonders of the Internet, I knew I could find instructions to save it. The directions I found on thebeautydepartment and on michellephan were very detailed and helpful.
Both the broken shadows are NYX and as you can see I’ve hit pan on one of them – I have had from less than 2 months and use it almost daily. I was absolutely distraught when the palette shattered on the floor of a hair salon. There was absolutely NO saving the two colours that dropped, I was NOT picking them off that floor.

All the tools: a knife, a brush, alcohol (I used 70% from CVS), and lots of paper towels as the process can get messy.
Alcohol is then dropped into the shadows and mixed with the knife, not too much though. Then you just wait for it to dry overnight and… voila! All fixed up! Glad to see that I am capable of following instructions:)
I wanted to re-hab both of these as I plan on taking them on our upcoming trip to Africa. I also plan on packing my eye shadows and compacts with cotton balls as described here. Apparently it makes them shatter proof.

So, apparently the trick is to pack them with a cotton square/ball and this provides the cushion to eliminate any shattering. I sure hope this works. I have approximately 23hours of flight time, 7 hours of layovers and 3 airports to survive!

I need to dig around some more blogs and figure out how to better pack my toiletries appropriately, rather than just throwing them in a bag and hoping for the best.
Again, thanks to all who keep reading and commenting on my blog. I totally appreciate all the support. What about you, have you had to save and re-hab any of your make-up lately? Don’t you just love DIY projects?
Thanks for stopping by and stay blessed.
