Botswana Part 2 – Food

Food on the plane… we were no where near first class unfortunately. We were on South African Airways.

Looks like I may not be able to get my hands on some of the other animal pics that I took in Botswana.  So I decided to put up pics of some of the food we ate.  Again I have so many pics of family around food, but alas, I wont be posting those.  Food is a very Central part of the culture in Botswana.  When folks visit you, the first thing you offer is food – at a bare minimum you offer them tea and what we call biscuits (cookies).  If visitors arrive during a meal then you definitely share the meal.  There’s always so much food at all celebrations and events… including my favourite dish Seswaa, a delicious shredded beef.  When folks ask me what I miss the most about Botswana I always say my family/friends and the food!

South African Wine on the plane!!
Family braaing steak and boerewors… so good.  Braaing = BBQ.  No sauces or fancy grills, just good spices and good marinate.  And did you notice the grill is a rigged up half a barrel?
This is full fat cream, great for packing on the pounds:( But its so delicious, drank this all the time as a kid.
My not-quite-as-yummy sweet potatoe and chicken
My sister’s very delicious salmon and veggies
Steak and Fries – pretty universal the world over.
My favourite – Seswaaa:)
Delicious hazelnut latte
The best (and only) salmon/tomatoe/egg scramble I’ve ever tasted.  I can’t wait till I try to this at home.
A big fat croissant with hazelnut spread and kiwis.
South African wine on the return trip. This was good, only I’m pretty sure I will not find the bottle where I live.
Not my favourite, but if you are stuck in a tin tube flying over oceans….
This was supposed to be beef stroganoff… it was terrible.

Hope you enjoyed my little ramblings and stories about Botswana.  I was hoping to do a post about beauty products in there, but alas, everywhere I shopped I saw the usual suspects: MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clarins, Revlon, Estee Lauder.   Only at super-inflated prices:( And many skin-lightening products, I didn’t realize they were back in vogue and I’m a little dismayed by that.

What about you?  Any exotic travels and good food lately? I promise I’ll get back to beauty blogging in a bit, just wanted to finish off the trip.

Thanks for stopping by and stay blessed.

    1. We travelled on South African Airways. The food was good on the way there, not so much on the way back.

The wine is always good since SA has some of the best wineries in the world.
