January/February Empties 2014

My first empties post of the year.  This is a pretty small one, but it includes one makeup product, and we all know how difficult that can be.

Skincare:
Estee Lauder Soft Clean Tender Creme Cleanser – I used to love this cleanser.  But this time around I didn’t find it as cleansing.  It did absolutely nothing for removing foundation at the end of the day and it just felt heavy on my skin.  My skin just doesn’t feel as dry this winter (thanks to my increased water intake) and so I guess I didn’t need such a moisturizing cleanser.  Was very happy to see the end of it and will not repurchase.

Nars exfoliator, Estee Lauder Soft Clean Cleanser, Hada Labo lotion, Gucci Flora lotion, Yu-be moisturizing cream

Estee Lauder RE-Nutriv Ultimate Lift Age-Correcting Cream – I love this cream.  When I want baby-soft skin, I just use this before bed and wake up with super-soft skin.  Estee Lauder really does an excellent job with this one.  It’s a little bit thick, but my dry skin just soaks it up.  I always love it when I get one of these little sample tubs which last about 1-2months.  Highly recommended and on my permanent wishlist.

NARS Skin Double Refining Exfoliator – I don’t love manual exfoliators as much since I started using my beloved Pro-X Olay brush, but this was definitely good.  I was sad to see that little sample finish and I am seriously considering purchasing the full size.

Hada Labo Protecting Day Lotion with SPF 18 – I liked this.  The price is reasonable, and if you have a coupon to Ulta then you get a pretty decent deal.  This is supposed to be a super hyaluronic product.  I didn’t really notice any great difference with other moisturizers.  But I did like that it had a good SPF, and didn’t leave me all white and ashen.  I’m considering repurchasing.

Olay Pro-X Brush-head – I really like these.  Will keep repurchasing.  A brush usually lasts for 2-3 months.  My only regret is that I don’t use this as often as I should.

YSL Forever Youth Liberator Creme SPF 15 – this sample was too tiny. I think I got two uses out of it. Not enough to form an opinion unfortunately.

Other:
Flora by Gucci Lotion – I have no idea how long I’ve had this one for.  The smell is getting stronger and more chemically.  It’s not in the least bit moisturizing but it was good for layering when I was in love with the fragrance many moons ago.  Happy to toss.

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream – icky.  The smell.  Too gross.  Detracted from any good that this might have done.  Will not purchase.

Bausch&Lomb BioTrue multipurpose solution – this is the best contact lens solution as far as I am concerned.  Doesn’t burn my eyes at all.I take my lenses out every night, I am super-paranoid about my eyes!

Nars exfoliator, Estee Lauder Soft Clean Cleanser, Hada Labo lotion, Gucci Flora lotion, Yu-be moisturizing cream
Chanel Hydra Beauty products, YSL Youth Liberator and Estee Lauder Cream-powder foundation

Chanel Hydra Beauty Creme Hydra Protection Radiance & Chanel Hydra Beauty Serum Hydra Protection Radiance – I’m surprised by how much I liked these.  Even though I am more than happy to spend money on products, I hate to spend on products that carry a high price tag simply because of the brand.  I try to take the time to research the ingredients; and even though I’m not super-impressed with the ingredients for these products, my skin just soaked them up. I especially liked the serum,  I think these products are better than the Chanel Sublimage line.  I’ve put these on my wishlist.

Make-up:
Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Creme Compact Make-up in 5N1 Natural Tan – I think I had this for 2-3years.   It lasted for a very long time so it was money well spent.  I really liked this, it finished to a very smooth powder finish.  Plus it never made my skin look dry nor patchy. I’m considering re-purchasing, but I am truly tempted by the Nars Cream Foundation and the Marc Jacobs one.  Still can’t believe that I finally finished this.  I think it’s only the second foundation I have actually finished rather than just tossing.

Not bad for 2 months huh.  What have you used up this month?  Isn’t it so satisfying when you finish a product and can toss it in the recycle bin.  Makes me feel so accomplished.  Sorry, i have a low bar for expectations.

Eleven finished products (including samples) and 1 tossed.

Hope you enjoyed my mini-reviews.  Thanks for stopping by and stay blessed.
