I was a bit wary of purchasing this product based on the price point and what appears to be a limited shade selection. Plus, what with my dry skin and all, I’m not usually a fan of powder products, loose or otherwise. But boy, am I glad I splurged on this!

I was lucky enough to receive a sample of this in the colour Beige. The sales associate at Neiman Marcus made the sample by dumping a little bit into a small jar. It was truly appreciated. However, when I went to purchase it, I accidentally purchased the colour Neutral! But luckily this has allowed me to do a comparison of the two. I did like the Neutral shade, but I did end up exchanging it for the Beige. For reference, I’m a NW43 in most MAC foundations and #94 in Chanel Perfection Lumiere.

The La Mer Powder comes in a heavy glass bowl that is NOT travel safe. But there’s 25g of product in there, so even though it’s pricey, I’m pretty sure this will last a good 2-3 years. I use it as a finishing powder. Honestly, it’s the best I have. I don’t really like powder products as I’m always nervous that they will make me look cakey and highlight my dry patches, but this…. none of those issues with this airy lightweight product.
The powder puff actually makes me look more flawless, but I also feel like I use a whole lot more product when I use the puff. I’ve been using my Ecotools powder brush and so far so good. Although I have to tell you, using something this luxurious high makes me feel like I need to up my brush game.

The Neutral has a bit more shimmer/pearlessance than the Beige. It’s a bit more pink/white while the Beige is more beige. It took me longer to buff the Neutral into my skin, and if I wasn’t careful, I would look a little pale. So, since I’m not one to buff and buff and buff, I was happy to go and exchange this for the right product.
All in all, I highly recommend this product. It’s an ouch upfront, but considering how long you will have the tub, it’s reasonable and oh so worth it. As much as I like my Chanel Les Beiges and my MAC Mineralize SkinFinish, this is way better.
