Forgive me, I’m a bit late with the Empties post this time around. Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging you know. Not much happening in the empties post this time around. Although you can tell that I made a concerted effort to start digging through my samples.
|L’Oreal, Chanel, Trish McEvoy, Ulta and Pre de Provence|
Ulta Professional Brush & Sponge Cleaner – this was my favourite brush cleaner ever. Did you notice I said WAS. Apparently Ulta decided to discontinue this. Right after I discovered and fell in love with it. My brushes were so clean! Why Ulta, WHY?
DiorShow Maximizer Lash Primer – This sample lasted me quite some time. I think this really did make a difference but I’m a little wary of using eye primers as I heard that they make eyelashes fall out. But really, this is more of a time management issue, who has the time to put on an eyelash primer??? Plus eye-curler and actual mascara. Once in a blue-moon maybe. so I won’t bother purchasing.
Chanel Les Volumes Mascara – holy grail. Replacement already re-purchased. LOVE IT.
Trish McEvoy Lash Curling Mascara – this reminded me of the Kevin Aucoin volumizing mascara. It takes a lot of coats to get this to show up on my eyelashes. A lot of coats. I got this as a freebie so I won’t complain but I will not purchase this.
Smashbox Full Exposure samples– I love this. Definitely on the look for this. The shimmer shades are great. And there was minimal fall-out. I think the mattes are dupeable, but I like the shimmers. I may need a new palette soon.
|Shiseido, Smashbox, Kiehls, Dior, Lancome & La Prairie|
Pre de Provence 20% Shea Butter Dry Skin Hand Cream – I bought this one because I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream… NOT. Should have stuck with the original. This was less expensive, but because I was not in love with it, I felt like I had wasted my money.
Shiseido Facial Cotton – I think this is my 3rd packet of these. They are really soft and leave no lint behind. Will repurchase ASAP and highly recommend it.
Kiehls Creme de Corps – this was good, but I’ve had better. Way better. And thicker. So, will not purchase. I don’t know, I feel like this is one of those items that are over-hyped on the internet. My expectations were through the roof, and I was disappointed. Moving on.
Lancome La Base Pro Primer – the name is much longer but I cant even with some of these names. I don’t like heavy silicones in products, especially primers, so I can’t really be bothered with them. But this… I like. A lot. Even seriously considering purchasing it. Not for every day use because I’m not that girl, but every once and while, this could work. I’m super surprised by this sentiment. I have one more packet to try, hopefully it will dissuade me.
Fresh Blact Tea Age-Delay Eye Concentrate – meh
Sephora Instant Moisturizer – not heavy enough for my crocodile skin
Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 50+ – left a horrible white cast that would not come off. Very good for sunscreen, not so much for looking cute. The search continues.
Random Foundation samples – ranging from Lancome, Estee Lauder and I think a Dior BB creme. Check out my foundation smorgasboard reviews here and here to see my thoughts on foundations.
La Prairie Cellular Hydrating Serum – I like this and it felt really good on the skin. But it was a little lacking and not quite as moisturizing as I had hoped for. Definitely better suited for someone with normal rather than dry skin. This is a premium product with a matching premium price. Honestly, for that kind of money I expect angels to drench me in hydration.
L’Oreal Double Extend mascara – one of my favourite drugstore brands. I have been buying it on and off for years. But I left this one in my husbands car. In the hot Arizona sun. For weeks. Who knows what kind of swamp sludge is breeding in there? Toss. To be honest, I don’t know if I will repurchase. I think it’s time I ventured into new drugstore mascara territory.
What about you? What have you loved, emptied and tossed lately? Stay blessed and thanks for stopping by!
