Project Make-a-Dent – First post

I’ve been following this series on the blog Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog.  Please see her original post here where she explains it all.  For me, the best part of #projectmakeadent is that it’s not exclusionary.  You don’t have to put yourself on a make-up ban, something that I would truly suck at.  It just helps you focus on a few items so you can use your stash.  I love that.  I’ve been trying to do something similar by using the same products for a week at a time, but I still seem to have trouble finishing products.  I would really like to finish a lippie and one foundation by the end of the summer.

Project Make a Dent Products

LORAC Pro Palette

Lola chose nine products so I am going to do the same.  I’ve chosen the following products to focus on for the next 3 months:
Chanel Les Beiges Powder
Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick
Estee Lauder Highlighter in Shimmering Sands
Lorac Pro Palette
MAC Cork Lipliner
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation in Macao
Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup Foundation
Nars Liberte Blush
NYX Desert Rose Blush

Chanel Les Beiges, Nars Liberte, Estee Lauder Shimmering Sands, NYX Desert Rose blush, MAC Cork lipliner and Guerlain Rouge G in Garance
Chanel Les Beiges, Nars Liberte, Estee Lauder Shimmering Sands, NYX Desert Rose blush
chanel les beiges 60 swatches hit pan
Chanel Les Beiges

I have recently started to make a dent in the lovely Chanel Les Beiges #60.  Who knows, maybe I will one day hit pan on a powder product.

Chanel, Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup and Nars Sheer Glow in Macao

Face products – These are two of my oldest foundations and it’s time to finish them off.  I think I’m really close with the NARS, I haven’t seen the Estee Lauder in a few months so who knows how that is going.

Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick in Garance and MAC Cork Lipliner

I really like the creaminess and moisturizing-ness of the Guerlain lippie, and this colour is a good nude for me.  And everybody and their mother has the MAC lipliner.  This is a staple in my make-up stash, I’ve repurchased this multiple times and will continue to do so.

Project Make A Dent

I chose a palette for eyeshadows so as to give a little variety to the endeavour.

I’ve had some of the items for a while now and it really is time to use them up and try to toss them out.  Have to be honest, I’ve chosen products that are either current favs or past favs in a hope to speed things along. My hope is to do this, and minimize make-up purchases for the next 3 months; and I would like to follow this through to the end of the year.  Look for updates in September and December.

The only thing I knew for definite that I did not want on the list is mascara.  I regularly go through mascara every 3-4months so adding it would feel like cheating as it’s a given that I will use one up.

In case you are wondering, other beauty bloggers who are participating in the challenge are here at Rocaille Writes and here at GummyVision.  What I like about these posts is how honest everyone is with their progress (or lack thereof).  It’s a no pressure type of challenge, because really, it’s just make up right?

What about you, when was the last time you finished a beauty product?

Thanks for stopping by and stay blessed!

  1. I really like the variety in your products, and I think it’s a good idea to include products you know you like – which is something I haven’t thought to do with some of mine and the reason I struggle with some parts of the challenge. Good luck on this, and I’ll be looking out for your updates and cheering you on! 🙂

    1. I find it too torturous to use make-up that I don’t enjoy. I actually added a “toss” category to my empties post so I can chronicle the items that I have given up on! We can definitely cheer each other on!

  2. I’m trying to use up my hair product stash, I’m slowly making a dent. As for make up, I’ve never finished a make up product but I’ll love to try, I think I’m going to pull out one or two of my lippies and give it a go 🙂

    1. I used to be a total hair product junkie… and my hair still fell out after one too many relaxers:( Give it a go with the lippies, it’s a weirdly satisfying feeling to finish one!

  3. I finished my Clinique even better skin tone moisturizer this weekend and thought of you and your empties posts. This is an interesting twist on that concept. The likelihood of me getting through 9 products in 2 months is non-existent but maybe I can start with one or two 🙂

    1. oh no! there’s no way in hell i could get through these 9 products in 2 months!! LOL, I hope to finish one lipstick and one of the foundations by the end of summer (2months), but the rest I want to see my progress through to the end of the year. Yes, start with one or two and see what you can do!

    1. Hey, I kept my blogger platform because I really like it too and made my url I bought my domain from godaddy and there’s an option in blogger to re-direct your url.

Go to settings -> under “publishing” and you can re-direct, if you can, you should use the directions they give, there’s a shortcut that allows you to sync and verify your domain ownership for the re-direct. If you do it manually you will have to use the info that blogger provides and enter it into your DNS settings.

Let me know if that helps, if you can wait until the weekend, I can make a tutorial for you, but you’ll probably figure it out by then!

    2. using up sunscreen is always an excellent idea, did you know you are supposed to go through a whole bottle every 3-4months!! I tried to do the whole DNS thing yesterday and it was a little bothersome and kept giving me error messages. going to try again tonight. If it doesn’t work I’ll let you know, i might need that tutorial afterall!

  4. Cool concept. I need to implement this. I’ve got some much make-up that is so old I’m ashamed to say how old. LOL. Your make-up collection is so fabulous. You should start doing tutorials hun. xoxo
