This isn’t really a review on the MAC products, but me just rambling on about their products. I used to be a MAC-aholic, I really did. But then I had an awful experience in a MAC store and didn’t return for a few years. I asked an SA for help finding a product, he not only told me that I didn’t know what I was talking about, but he also refused to help me with anything else. I hate to spend my money where I’m badly treated, so I didn’t go back for years.
But about 3 years ago I discovered the MAC Haute and Naughty Mascara from a friend. It’s one of my holy grails and it re-started a spark for MAC. I wandered in and picked up such staples as the Cork Lipliner which I adore and use everyday. Then I think I sort of started falling into the hype of the collections. I really liked Archie Girls Betty lippie but I ended up giving it away to a friend, it looked way better on her than on me. But soon I noticed how the “collections” were so continuously never-ending and just as quick as I joined the bandwagon, I thankfully jumped off. I just can’t deal with manufactured hype and the expense.

I continue to dabble in MAC, but truth be told, I hate the false desperation economy and the never-ending stream of new collections. From lists I’ve seen online there’s over 20 collections this year alone. That’s two a month. REALLY MAC? I don’t bother purchasing online, I am so sick of instagram gurus who buy 5 or 6 of one product and then slowly start selling them off. What a rip-off.
I wanted the MAC Alluring Aquatic collection, but I wasn’t going to go crazy over it either. I find it difficult to buy makeup without swatching it first, so to me its worth it to wait and look in the store. I found what I wanted at my local Dillards and they had tons of the stuff. Tons of the stuff. No drama of the whole selling out online nonsense. Sure, I wasn’t the first to get my hands on me, but that isn’t important to me.
I kept waiting for the Pedro Lorenco lipsticks to show up at Nordies but it never did. I bought it sight unseen, but Nordstrom has a very generous return policy so I risked it. Can I tell you how much I LOVE this lipstick. LOVE. I’m looking forward to the Simpsons collection, simply because I am a die-hard Simpsons fan and own all the DVDs. I also can’t wait for the Prabal Gurung collab, that red lippie has my name written all over it. What about you, are you MAC-aholic too? I know that the addiction is real. Thanks so much for visiting, and stay blessed.
