July – September Empties Post

Beauty empties

I was actually quite surprised by what I used up these last few months.  I thought this was going to be a month with little finished, but I was nicely surprised.  I know this is for the last 3 months, but 2 full size makeup finished, I can live with that! I’ve put it in three categories – skincare, make-up and tossed.

Skincare empties

Skin Care

Hada Labo Protecting Day Lotion – will definitely consider repurchasing.  This was my second bottle, I liked it because it didn’t break me out.  I’m looking for something with a higher SPF so it might take a while before I return to this.  Recommended.

Giovanni Vitapro Fusion Protective Moisture Leave-in Treatment – I love this leave-in treatment.  Nice even spray and keeps the hair moisturized.  It’s been a great detangler for my daughter and I’s tangle prone hair.  It’s not sufficient to use alone though, I have to double up with a second moisturizer for a deep treatment. Will definitely repurchase.

Juice Beauty Nutrient Moisture – terrible product, did not moisturize one bit and had no sunscreen.  It’s too light to use as a nighttime moisturizer.  It was just terrible.  I don’t recommend it at all for those of us with dry skin.

Hado Lado, Giovannie, Juice Beauty, Lancome La Base pro and LaMer

LaMer Moisturizing Soft Cream and the Lotion – I could have done without the Lotion, but I was terribly tempted by the Soft Cream.  Damn you La Mer and your super-expensive products.  I’m still tempted by this one.  But my mind just can’t wrap itself around the price tag.  Watch this space.

GlamGlow Exfoliating Mud Mask – I know some folks can’t stand this product and all the tingling, but I actually like it.  Not to use every day, but once a month or so when my skin needs extra pampering, then this is it.  Helps to clear me out.  I managed to get about 4-5 uses out of this small tube.  I bought the small travel size jar and I’m working my way through that one.  I want to try some of the other varieties before I decide to re-purchase this one.

Estee Lauder lipgloss, CKONe mascara, Make Up Forever mascara, bobbi brown lipgloss and Wet’n’Wild lipstick

Makeup

Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipgloss in Ruby Sparkle – this was my 4th tube of this colour, I loved it that much.  Just the right amount of shimmer and gloss without being too tacky nor to grimy.  I really like Estee Lauder products, can you tell.  I’m pretty sure this colour is no longer available, but they always have new, pretty colours come out in this amazing formula.

Lancome La Base Pro sample packet – so, I’m not typically a fan of primers.  I hate the silicone-y feel of most and think I’m lucky that thus far they seem like an unnecessary step for me.  However, this one…wow.  Actually melted into my skin and I could not feel it.  Not a bit, I guess these silicone primers really have improved!  But, still didn’t see a difference in how my foundation applied, nor how long it lasted.  I have less than 15mins to get my make-up together in the mornings so the minute putting something on that doesn’t add to the overall pic seems like a minute wasted.  Highly recommended to the primer lovers out there.  Let me know what I’m missing about primers, coz I just don’t get it.

CK One Mascara – this was the birthday freebie mascara fro Ulta.  To be honest, I wasn’t impressed with this till I turned the little thing in the cap that twists the brush a little.  Once I did that, I definitely saw more lengthening.  I don’t think I would purchase this again since it didn’t give an amazing WOW factor, but I did use it up all the way to the end, and if I received another freebie I would use that too!

Make-up Forever Smoky Extravagant Mascara – I hate to admit but I don’t remember this one at all.  Isn’t that terrible.

Random Foundation Sample – I have so many of these.  The fact that I don’t remember this one makes me think it wasn’t something memorable.

Toss

Wet and Wild Lipstick in Java –  I bought this at CVS, I needed cashback and didn’t want to pay ATM fees. So I grabbed a $1 lipstick.  The colour was so terrible on me, and I haven’t figured out how to make it work with 3 different liners.  I’m not a makeup collector, if I cant make it work, I toss it.  The end.

Bobbi Brown Lipgloss sample – I like this, a lot.  I like the shimmer and the pinky neutral colour.  I’m tossing it for one simple reason – I can’t get it out of the damn tube.  I’ve tried everything to get it out but please.  It’s worthless.  I’m totally over it.  TOSS!

  1. I totally agree with you about La Mer, so good and so expensive products. I used the eye cream and I really liked it, the hand cream is very good and they make a foundation which is perfect for my skin tone. The serum is amazing but really costs a fortune.
When I go to Sephora I always think about buying GlamGlow masks but I’m not very sure, because I read contrasting opinions, some love them and some hate them so I think that untill I’ll get a sample or a mini size I won’t buy a product.
Useful post. Luckily I don’t think I bought or tried a product that I hated!

    1. hi Noemi, you are lucky you always buy/try products that you like. I like to experiment with samples, i’m the sample queen. Thanks for stopping by, I’ll look into that La Mer eyecream, I tried the serum once, but it is so damn pricey!
