I know Facial Essences/Mists/Toners are currently the new “it” beauty product that every one is raving about. But the SKII Facial Essence seems to be the gold standard that all are compared against. I almost pulled the plug on the Estee Lauder version that was recently released, but in the end decided to find out what all the fuss is about with the SKII.
I was lucky enough to purchase mine during a Sephora VIB sale, I believe I may have scored my set for 15% off which makes the price more palatable. I also scored a deal by buying the set versus the essence on its own. The Facial Treatment Essence retails for $105 for the smallest bottle. The kit, which includes the following products, The Treatment Essence, the Cotton Facial Mask (1) the Clear Treatment Essence for the same $105 price. With the VIB sale discount, I believe i ended up paying $89 (plus taxes).
Here are the ingredients from the Sephora Website:
Pitera: A blend of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and organic acids that work together to allow the skin’s natural surface rejuvenation process to function at its prime, enhancing the renewal of the skin’s outer layer.
Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Water, Sodium Benzoate, Methylparaben, Sorbic Acid.
I don’t use the Treatment Essence daily, I add it to my rotation as my skin needs it. For the most part I use glycolic serums, so I’m easing myself into using them all together. I have definitely noticed that my skin looks less dull/tired/ashy. And plump, but in a good way. I’m hoping that the benefits will compound and I will continue to see improvement. I need all the help i can get!
You can use the Clear Lotion in conjunction with the Treatment Essence, but I have to admit that I only use it when I have a breakout and for a few days afterwards. I think it has definitely helped to keep my skin smooth and clear and I notice far fewer zits since I added these products to my routine.
The real star of the show is the Treatment Mask. I had one to try and plan on getting more. I used it before bedtime and thankfully was staying at a hotel so I didn’t have to scare the hubs and daughter. I laid it on my face for about 20mins and then wiped off the excess as directed. In the morning my skin looked plumper, silky soft, and well rested. I feel like my laugh lines were less noticeable. My only complaint with this product is that the cotton mask itself was quite tiny and didn’t quite fit my fat/round face – my eyes didn’t quite fit in the eye holes!
See, don’t I look refreshed the next day?
All in all I highly recommend the set. I haven’t tried any of the cheaper versions of this product, but sometimes the gold standard has rightfully earned that right. I think the most important issue is to ease the product into your routine. I will be keeping the product and plan on repurchasing! I also look forward to trying others in the line up. I’m also interested in trying the Pixi Glow Tonic and have read good things about Missha’s Treatment Essence as less pricey alternatives.
Thanks for stopping by and stay blessed.
