I know the title says September, but this is really more like July-August-Septempter empties. I wanted to write about the products that I used up recently. I made a video on how-to-use up your products, but I realize I didn’t really feature the products:( So here they are with quick reviews. As per usual, it’s quite a few products.
Reviva Labs Glycolic Acid Facial Toner – see previous comments here. I’m still just as in love with it and have one in my stash at all times.
Reviva Labs Sun Protective Moisturizer – This was no where near being finished. But we ran out of regular sunscreen so I gave this to my daughter to use at the pool. She returned it empty and covered in sand. grrrr – lesson learned! Repurchased as well.
Japonesque Solid Brush cleanser – I would put my daughter to work with this. Very easy directions, and made the brush cleaning fun and mindless. Highly recommended and I literally just purchased a new one the other day.
Yes to Blueberries Facial Towlettes – I keep buying these for those superlazy days, or on the go days when I’m desperate. I don’t believe the perfect cleansing wipes exist, but these will do in a pinch. But will not repurchase, I just can’t support the madness anymore and should stop being lazy about nighttime cleansing.
Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel Pads – waiting for a sale to stock up on these! I like how large the pads were and how they stayed moist. I’m a big fan of glycolic products and this one is effective – I highly recommend chemical exfoliants if your skin can handle them.
GlamGlow Thirsty Mud – I’m glad I bought the small size. This is the moisturizing version but it did nothing much for me as I saw no improvements in my skin after using it. I was surprised by how quickly this dried up and I prefer the exfoliating one (in the black jar) so I will not repurchase.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum – One of my favourite serums. I have used this on and off since I was in my early 20s. Since most folks think I’m 5-10years than I am, I think that is because of this serum (and not my childish behavior!). Highly recommended. Waiting for a sale to repurchase.
Nars Sheer Glow in Macao – I really loved this for my skin during the winter when I get a little bit more pale. The colour was spot on, and the “glow” part made my dry skin look normal. But to be honest, I’m glad to be rid of it. This was part of my Project-make-a-dent and I just got terribly bored with it. I may consider repurchasing in the future, but there are so many new foundations out there…
Empties – Make-up
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara– ick, hated this. It did absolutely nothing for my short stubby lashes. No increase in length or volume. And this was my second tube coz I accidentally bought a second. So happy to trash and will not repurchase.
Dior Diorshow Maximizer Mascara Primer – I actually really like this as a primer. Made me appreciate Dior mascaras a little bit more (I’m not usually a fan). I don’t think it’s a must have though so will not buy a full-size.
Marc Jacobs Gel Liner – love this, used it till it dried up which took months. The felt tip stayed as purchased for the longest time. The line it leaves behind is solid with no skips and no tugging. Already repurchased.
Chanel Les Volumes Mascara – holy grail material and already repurchased. I love this mascara.
Motions Moisture Plus Conditioner – I know this has mineral oil in it, but my hair loves it. Keeps it really soft. I don’t necessarily want to repurchase because of that one ingredient, but if my hair starts to feel dry then I will get it again.
Just for Me Detangler – my niece left this at our house. We were quite happy to use it up. Handled the job ok, it’s a decent water based moisturizer but I have others I prefer so will not repurchase.
Vatika Coconut Oil – LOVE THIS. Need to go to the indian store to re-purchase. The only thing I dislike about it is the packaging, you an tell its packaged for a warm climate. The whole it pours out of is tiny, but once it gets cold and the coconut oil solidifies you have to warm it up to be able to use it. Other than that its a perfect combination of coconut oil and neem oil and makes an excellent pre-poo or a good addition to your deep conditioner.
It-a-10 Leave in conditioner – I’ve never been too tempted by this, just seemed too expensive and it has propylene glycol which im not a fan off. But man, some guy at Ulta threw this sample in my bag and boom – love. Just couldn’t believe how soft my hair felt. I need this in my life but I’m too damn cheap right now.
NYX eyeshadows – both of these cracked up months ago. And I haven’t bothered to use the alcohol method to repress them. All they are doing is leaving a mess everywhere. Time to go!
Revlon Lipstick – this had the weirdest chemical smell to it. Which has just gotten stronger. I really should have tossed it on day one, but I liked the colour. I probably used it 3-4x before it was put in the drawer to be forgotten. Happy to toss.
Clinique lipstick – freebie in a gift bag. Have no idea how long I’ve had it.
Maybelline eyeliner – another old item just hanging around. Happy to toss.
Benefit Watts Up highlighter – this was a Sephora birthday gift a few years ago. I’ve never figured out how to use it without looking ashy. I’ve finally decided to toss it, but I should have just said no from the beginning.
YSL Les Tints – I like this, its like tinted fragrant oil. Doesn’t last that long though, but longer then expected. Sample was too small to make a decision, but awfully tempted.
Mark Hill – almost bought this till I read the ingredients list and it was more silicone than argan oil.
